The Philips Pavilion, built in 1958 for the Brussels World Fair. The building was designed specifically for the performance of works by Iannis Xenakis and Edgar Varese and was designed in collaboration with them and Le Corbusier. Varese’s “Poeme Electronique” premiered here, and used over 100 speakers to shuttle blocks of sound around the space.

I won tickets to see Spoon at a small club show in Chicago today. Just got back. Pretty cool to see them with only about 50 other people considering they are playing the Chicago Theater tomorrow. 

They played a short set of songs from the new album with a few older tunes as an encore, “Don’t You Evah,” and “Jonathan Fisk.”
